Your contribution to TenneT
TenneT is growing rapidly to realize its strategic ambitions and plays a leading role in driving the energy transition. Within the business unit Large Projects Offshore Netherlands (LON), we connect offshore wind farms in the North Sea to the mainland grid through state-of-the-art HVDC converter stations and platforms. These connections are essential for transmitting renewable energy to millions of households and industries across the Netherlands.
As Sub Project Lead Commissioning Auxiliary Systems, you will play a crucial role in the commissioning of auxiliary systems at our new onshore converter station in Borssele, where the HVDC cable from the offshore platform connects to the national grid. You are responsible for steering the execution of commissioning activities related to auxiliary systems — ensuring quality, compliance with TenneT standards, and timely delivery. Working closely with engineers, contractors, and project management, you will witness and verify the design, testing, installation, and (pre)commissioning activities of these systems.
Your responsibilities
As Sub Project Lead Commissioning Auxiliary Systems, you will ensure that all auxiliary systems within our onshore converter stations are commissioned safely, efficiently, and in line with technical and regulatory standards. You will act as the link between the commissioning team, contractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver a reliable and compliant connection to the grid. Your main tasks include:
-
Gain a detailed understanding of the design of auxiliary systems at converter stations IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Nederwiek Alpha, including HVAC, low-voltage power distribution, UPS, fire detection, and lighting systems.
-
Participate in the review of relevant technical documents issued by the Contractor.
-
Witness routine tests, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for auxiliary systems and related SCADA systems, ensuring quality during the execution phase.
-
Ensure compliance with all applicable technical and regulatory standards.
-
Identify key risks throughout project execution with focus on technical compliance and planning; escalate potential issues timely to the Contractor and TenneT project management.
-
Verify contractors’ Testing and Commissioning plans and witness the execution of commissioning to ensure a compliant and reliable system delivery.
-
Promote a safe working environment by ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards throughout the project lifecycle.
