• Experienced Architect – 7+ years in a Technical Lead, Senior Engineer, or Architect role, bridging business and technology.
• Tech-Savvy – Strong grasp of software development lifecycle (CI/CD), cloud-based solutions, IoT, digital twins, document management and asset management tooling.
• Security & Risk Aware – Knowledgeable in information security and risk management.
• Modernization Expert – Skilled in simplifying and decoupling legacy systems for a scalable, future-ready IT landscape.
• Collaborative Mindset – Comfortable working with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and outsourced service providers.
• Big-Picture Thinker – Decisions align with enterprise goals and long-term architectural vision.
• Effective Communicator & story teller– Able to translate complex architectures into clear, actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.

• Language & Education – Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus); Bachelor’s degree in a technical field required (TOGAF certification is a bonus).

As an IT Architect in the Asset Chain department of the Business Technology Organization (BTO), you will design, build, and optimize IT solutions that empower our business teams to deliver large-scale, capital-intensive projects-shaping the Electricity Grid of the Future.

What you'll do:

• Architect scalable, high-performing, and cost-effective IT solutions, new ones and optimizing existing ones, to meet evolving business needs.
• Collaborate closely with business teams, Enterprise Architecture, and multiple technology delivery and operational teams.
• Drive innovation to accelerate grid development, maximize efficiency and enhance customer experience.
• Ensure modular, maintainable and cost efficient IT landscapes that align with long-term business goals, including shape and refine the existing application landscape, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
• Engage with platform teams, centre’s of excellence, and key functional departments like Operations, Data & Digital, HR, Procurement and Business Guidance.
• Foster a culture of End-to-End thinking, open dialogue and continuous learning within teams.
• Support and embody TenneT’s core values—Ownership, Courage and Connection—through leadership and coaching.

BTO is the Business Technology Organization of TenneT and drives as business partner the digitalization of TenneT into the future by: Driving security of supply, energy transition, organizational and financial health through digital, data, and analytics. Securing solid foundations through seamless end-user services (UX), industry leading cyber security set-up, resilient data centres and cloud infrastructure. Consistent business partnerships, strategic partnerships with vendors and clear standards on architecture, vendor & portfolio management and security. Unlocking value from data and digital by building all the necessary enablers (including data platform, data governance processes and capabilities) and embedding innovation initiatives into business roadmaps.

• The weekly working hours are 32-40.
• The salary indication for this role is between €4.151,= and €8.197,= gross per month, based on a 40 hours work week, in salary scale 8 of our CAO TSO.
• Type of contract is indefinite.
• A solid pension through ABP: we pay 70% of your premium.
• 43 vacation days per year.
• All mentioned benefits apply to a full-time contract unless otherwise stated.
• Hybrid working is a requirement for this role.
• We only proceed with candidates who have EU residency. We do not offer a work visa/ sponsorship.
