Your profile and background

Your Profile and Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Power Systems, Power Electronics, or related Electrical Engineering fields.
  • Experience and familiarity in large multidisciplinary projects and with asset handover processes for offshore projects.
  • Interest in the complete HVDC project lifecycle. Familiarity with the latest HVDC advancements (e.g., grid forming, fault blocking, multi-terminal) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with power system software packages like PSCAD, PSS/E, DigSILENT, or equivalents is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and cooperation skills. Ability to manage, motivate, and direct a team of professionals. Initiative, persuasiveness, and stakeholder awareness. Dynamic, enthusiastic, and intrinsically motivated.
  • Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Responsible and committed, not a ‘nine to five’ mentality, with a desire to expand knowledge and skills.
  • Flexibility to work at different locations: Arnhem (2 days/week), occasionally Papendrecht and occasionally from home.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time within Europe and Asia (around 3-5 days/month).
  • Valid driver's license.

Your contribution to TenneT

As a Sub Project Lead for HVDC System Design, Control, and Grid Integration, you will manage the 2GW grid connection systems in accordance with TenneT's requirements, contractual obligations, and relevant regulations. You will support the realization of the 2GW program's goals—including safety, health, environment (SHE), time, quality, and cost—up to the handover of the grid connection systems to the operator, working closely with the overall project team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in overseeing HVAC/DC system design and performance during the execution phase.
  • Support design and testing activities for multi-terminal readiness.
  • Provide input on optimizing technical solutions delivered by the HVDC Contractor.
  • Help review HVDC system studies and verify critical calculations/simulations.
  • Act as a test evaluator during HVDC station/system commissioning.

This will be our challenge

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

  • Salary for this position is in grade 9, between € 4.369,- and € 8.594- gross based on a fulltime position
