Your contribution to TenneT
The Interface Manager assures the interface management process of the Grid Connection System project(s). You will assure that all (technical) interfaces are managed by the project and will assist the project team with a clear process, system and way of working. You are in close contact with project members and contractors personnel to ensure progress and a high quality of deliverables.
As an Interface Manager, you will be working in the Cluster Borssele, in the team Integration & Commissioning. The Integration & Commissioning team is accountable for facilitating and managing all processes and issues that are overarching and affecting multiple (minimum two) technical workstreams (Offshore and Onshore Converter Stations, HVDC Cable, 380kV Substation, Offshore Wind Farms (OWF)), internal and external stakeholders and contractors. The various technical workstreams are responsible for the successful and compliant realization of their own scope, including the deliverables related to technical interfaces.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
- Safeguard that all contract requirements for Interface Management are met and assure dedicated contractor involvement. Support and supervise the review and delivery of Interface requirements, Interface query procedures and any other deliverables related to Interface Management. Ensure risks related to interfaces are identified by Project team and contractors.
- Act as a central contact person for assigned stakeholders with regard to Interface management. Manage and motivate the consortium/contractor to deliver the quality required, within the agreed timelines. Facilitate meetings and interface disputes resolutions between contractors, stakeholders and/or the employer.
- Verify all interface milestones have been reflected in the project schedule. Prepare and guide the workstreams interface towards other workstreams, projects and stakeholders, inside and even outside TenneT if needed. Promote the importance of Interface Management during the different project phases by explaining employer expectations based on contractual requirements and employer experience.
- Support the TenneT specialists of the various technical workstreams, on request, by e.g. meetings, documentation reviews and performing audits. Review on daily and report on a monthly basis on progress and provision of all necessary information for forward-looking scheduling, and active management of risks and opportunities
- Aligning with experts and teams within the Large Projects Offshore department and various other departments within TenneT and taking into account lessons learned from other large projects. Active contribution to a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues and contractors.
Jouw profiel en achtergrond
- Bachelor degree in the field of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or comparable.
- Experience in the field of complex infrastructure projects, turn-key and multi lot. Relevant professional experience and knowledge in the field of, System Engineering and Systematic Contract Control.
- Excellent communication -, cooperation - and influencing skills and are able to challenge and motivate the contractor, your own project colleagues as well as relevant stakeholders. Dynamic, enthusiastic, intrinsically motivated, you take your responsibility and ownership (committed); you are a team player, no 'nine to five-mentality' and you are open for business trips lasting several days (including Asia and Europe).
- Proven stakeholder management skills. Familiar with TenneT internal stakeholders related to offshore projects. Show initiative, you are persuasive, sensitive, aware of your stakeholders and capable of balanced judgment. Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and to become acquainted with a range of topics.
- Physical fitness and willingness to travel are essential (work is for 2 days in the office in Arnhem)(short travel in- and outside Europe, about once every 4 to 6 weeks).
- Fluent in English and Dutch, both verbally and in writing.

The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

The energy transition; the leading role of TenneT.
The use of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas and coal is warming the earth and changing the climate. To counter this, the Netherlands is switching to sustainable energy from wind, sun and geothermal energy. This transition requires adjustments to the electricity grid, and wind farms are therefore being built in offshore wind energy areas.
From 2024, TenneT will realize the connection of offshore wind farms according to a new innovative 2GW standard. Electricity from offshore wind turbines will converge on newly built marine platforms (stations) of 2GW per platform at sea. Underground high-voltage connections are needed to transport the power to land. To limit the loss of power during transmission, TenneT is implementing these connections as a direct current (DC) connection of 525kV.
The underground high-voltage connections run from the offshore platform through the North Sea and then come ashore at the land stations that have yet to be built. The land stations form the link between the offshore wind farms and the high-voltage grid. At the Land Station, the direct current is converted to alternating current and the voltage of 525kV is transformed to 380 kV, making it suitable for the Dutch high-voltage grid.
