Strong stakeholder management & influencing skills: Able to represent engineering interests within a clear governance structure.

Additionally, you have:
• A Bachelor or Master in Electrical Engineering, Automation or Control Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in complex infrastructure, heavy industry, utility or offshore projects.
• Demonstrable experience with Automation, SCADA, Instrumentation and Low Voltage systems.
• Experience with FAT, integrated system testing and commissioning coordination.
• Experience in international contractor environments or manufacturing yards (strong preference).
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary interfaces, including HVDC, telecom, protection and platform systems.
• Capability to represent engineering interests during construction and integration phases.
Occupational medical suitability for offshore assignments.
Fluent English, spoken and written.
• Willingness and ability to fully relocate to Batam, Indonesia, for at least two years or longer.
• Willingness to join offshore installation and commissioning campaigns.

Your contribution to TenneT


How do you keep the Netherlands powered? 
As a Sub Project Lead – Platform Automation, you will play a key role in the realization of offshore stations within several Grid Connection Systems (GCS) assigned to the contractor portfolio. Each GCS transports 2 GW of offshore wind energy to shore. You ensure that system integration is carried out safely, on time, with high quality and cost effectiveness.

You will be part of the core project team and work closely with subsystem project leads to ensure correct execution of your scope. You report to the HVDC Automation Lead.
You are responsible for coordinating and supervising delivery of:
Automation and SCADA systems – including system integration and performance requirements.
Instrumentation systems – ensuring alignment with platform functionality.
Low Voltage control and distribution systems – from engineering to installation.
Industrial networks and Operational Support Systems – ensuring robust and secure operation.
Interfaces with HVDC control, protection, telecom and platform systems – to guarantee integrated end to end system functionality.

Additional responsibilities include:
• Reviewing and challenging the contractor’s system architecture and technical documentation.
• Managing multidisciplinary interfaces with HVDC control, protection, telecom and IT/OT domains.
• Defining FAT strategy, integrated testing philosophy and commissioning approach.
• Supporting preparation of contractual documentation and technical acceptance criteria.
• Preparing the yard phase by aligning scopes, interfaces and execution planning.

Phase 1 – Engineering & preparation (Arnhem, Netherlands)
During the initial year, your focus is on engineering coordination, execution readiness, internal alignment and defining acceptance criteria across disciplines.

Phase 2 – Yard execution, integration & commissioning (Batam, Indonesia)
After relocation to Batam, the role shifts to execution driven delivery. You will represent TenneT on site during:
• Manufacturing and system integration
• Construction and installation of Automation, Instrumentation and Low Voltage systems
• Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and integrated FAT
• System integration testing
• Pre commissioning and commissioning
• Interface coordination between automation systems and platform installation
• Offshore installation and commissioning campaigns (when required)

International assignment
This role requires full relocation to Batam, Indonesia for a minimum of two years.
This is not a commuting role; long term on site presence is mandatory.

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.
