At TenneT, you contribute directly to the construction of the next generation offshore grid connections. As Sub Project Lead Auxiliary for our 2GW HVDC projects, you play a key role in the construction of large offshore converter platforms that connect wind energy at sea to the electricity grid on land.

During the construction phase, you will work at the shipyard in Batam (Indonesia), where the offshore platforms are built. You ensure that all auxiliary systems are installed safely, on schedule and according to technical specifications. Together with your team and contractors, you contribute to reliable offshore infrastructure that supports the energy transition.

Your profile and background

At TenneT, we are looking for professionals who want to contribute to the future of the electricity grid. You bring technical expertise, a structured way of working and the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders in an international project environment. 

What you bring: 

  • At least 5 years of experience in technical project management 
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering and auxiliary systems 
  • Experience with installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems such as cooling systems, cranes and power generation 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and contractors in a complex project environment 
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or a comparable field 
  • Strong communication skills and a structured, independent working style 
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) 
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken 

Additional requirements: 
  • EU passport holder due to visa regulations 
  • In possession of a driver’s license 
  • Willingness to relocate to Batam for a longer period

Your contribution to TenneT

As Sub Project Lead Auxiliary, you oversee the construction and installation of auxiliary systems on the 2GW offshore platform. You coordinate contractors, technical specialists and internal stakeholders to ensure the systems are installed and integrated according to plan.

Your responsibilities include:
  • Leading the execution phase for auxiliary systems during platform construction
  • Coordinating contractors, technical specialists and internal stakeholders
  • Monitoring progress, quality and interface management across disciplines
  • Supervising installation and inspections of systems such as cooling, seawater, cranes, drainage, oil leakage systems and power generation
  • Ensuring successful factory acceptance tests (FATs) and system integration
  • Preparing technical decision proposals and resolving contractor performance issues
  • Supporting procurement and contributing to risk and contract management
  • Monitoring contractor compliance with safety, health and environmental (SHE) regulations
In this role, you combine technical expertise with strong coordination and project management skills.

This will be our challenge

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

We offer:
  • A temporary contract for 12 months, followed by the possibility of an indefinite contract
  • A full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • A salary in scale 9: €4.816 – €9.472 gross per month
  • 8% holiday allowance and 6% year-end bonus (CAO TSO)
  • 43 vacation days per year
  • A strong pension scheme via ABP, with 70% of the premium paid by TenneT

During the first 3 to 6 months, you will be based in Arnhem (The Netherlands) to prepare for the project. After that, you will relocate to Batam (Indonesia) during the construction phase.
