A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a similar field
Some experience or internships in electrical systems, control engineering, automation or high voltage environments
Any experience with Control & Protection (commissioning, design, installation or testing) is a strong plus
Good communication skills in English and comfortable working in an international environment
A valid driver’s licence
Willingness to obtain GWO and HUET certifications and to travel when required

This role is designed as a development track, offering guidance, training and hands on experience in Control & Protection, HV SCADA, HVDC system integration, primary and auxiliary systems, factory testing, site installation, offshore work and commissioning.

Your contribution to TenneT

How do you keep the Netherlands switched on? As Junior Sub Project Lead – Secondary Systems, you support the delivery of our 2GW HVDC projects, ensuring that the electricity grid remains reliable and future proof. You will develop expertise in Control & Protection and HV SCADA, while gaining broad exposure to primary and auxiliary systems. Step by step, you will grow into a full Sub Project Lead Secondary Systems.

You will be responsible for:
Supporting the execution of HVDC projects with a focus on learning Control & Protection and HV SCADA
Assisting with project planning, scheduling and risk related tasks
Checking compliance and quality throughout all project phases
Coordinating with internal teams and external contractors
Participating in technical reviews, documentation work and project meetings

Additional responsibilities include maintaining project documentation according to contractual and regulatory requirements, supporting HSE tasks during design, construction, installation and commissioning, and building knowledge of primary systems, auxiliary systems and the full engineering and construction cycle.

You will join the HVDC & Platform Delivery within Large Project Offshore Netherlands team, consisting of around 15 enthusiastic colleagues working on the 2GW HVDC portfolio delivered by GE Seatrium. You will work closely with the project lead and collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Asset Management, as well as external partners including GE Seatrium and various suppliers. The team culture is collaborative, driven and supportive, with a strong focus on quality and innovation.

Your main work location is Arnhem (Rijnpoort), with approximately 20% travel within Europe (monthly) and occasionally outside Europe (every 3–6 months).

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

A permanent contract with a two month probation period, based on 40 hours per week
A salary in scale 8: €4,276 – €8,443 per month (full time), plus 8% holiday allowance and 6% end of year payment
A solid pension scheme via ABP, with 70% of the premium paid by TenneT
