Your profile and background
Education & Technical Expertise:
- A degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of LAN communication technologies (VLAN, VRF) and network components (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Solid expertise in industrial communication protocols (ModBus TCP, ProfiNet, EtherCAT, OPC) and networking protocols (TCP/IP).
- Understanding of WAN communication technologies (MPLS).
- Familiarity with telecontrol protocols (IEC 60870-5-101/104, IEC 61850).
- Cybersecurity awareness, with knowledge of frameworks like IEC 62443, NIS2, CRA, and ISO 27000.
- Knowledge of (extra-)high voltage energy transmission systems.
- Hands-on experience with the installation and integration of telecommunication system cabinets, including power distribution, cabling, and environmental factors.
- Maritime experience is a strong plus, especially for offshore operations, vessel-based installations, and marine communication systems.
Personal Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in teams.
- Highly independent, with a proactive mindset and assertive approach.
Work Conditions:
- Occupational medical suitability for offshore assignments, in line with the AWMF standard.
- Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently, with a Class B driver’s license.

Join Our 2GW HVDC Grid Expansion Program!
We are looking for a skilled technical expert to support our ambitious 2GW HVDC grid expansion program. This exciting initiative involves the development of multiple 2GW grid connection systems across various regions in the Netherlands, in collaboration with our trusted consortia partners.
Your Role:
As a key member of the team, your expertise will be crucial in shaping the technical success of this large-scale project. You will take the lead in managing telecommunications technology and ensuring smooth coordination across all technical aspects of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
Telecommunications Technology Expertise:
- Specialize in Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IACS) and network infrastructure (copper, fiber optics, radio, office IT).
- Provide expert guidance on digital and analog communication systems, focusing on offshore ancillary systems (PAGA, CCTV, VHF radio, IPTV, and VoIP).
- Experience with VSAT and microwave systems is a plus, but not required.
Project Involvement & Stakeholder Coordination:
- Act as the technical liaison between internal teams, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Assist in contract negotiations and design processes (both basic and detailed).
- Oversee testing, inspection, and quality control during construction, installation, and commissioning phases.
Compliance & Security:
- Ensure all systems meet the highest standards and specifications (IEC, cybersecurity frameworks).
- Align system design and implementation with operational needs and safety regulations through stakeholder engagement.
Construction & Installation Support:
- Support project managers in subcontractor management and project execution.
- Validate technical documentation to ensure it meets specifications.
- Provide hands-on technical support during the implementation phase.
- Guide local teams, ensuring quality assurance for mechanical installations.
