Sub Project Lead Electrical/Instrument/Telecom - Yard
The energy transition requires large-scale offshore infrastructure projects to be executed efficiently and with the highest quality standards. As a Sub Project Lead Electrical Instrument Telecom - Yard, based in Johor Bahru - Malaysia, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the installation and commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, and telecom (EIT) systems at the yard. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring compliance with safety regulations, technical standards, and contractual agreements, contributing to a reliable and sustainable electricity grid.

What do you bring?
- Extensive experience in offshore projects within the Oil & Gas, Renewables, or Shipping industry during the construction phase.
- Strong problem-solving skills: Ability to not only identify issues but also solve them efficiently.
- Effective communication skills: You are able to communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders and contractors.
- You have 10+ years of experience with the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of low voltage systems. A BSc degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required. You have knowledge of international electrical codes and standards.
- Fluency in English is required for this position, both written and spoken.
- EU-passport holder, due to (Dutch) visa laws and regulations.
- Willingness to live for a longer period (approx. 3-5 years) of time in Malaysia.
Your contribution to TenneT
How do you help keep the Netherlands running? As Sub Project Lead Electrical/Instrument/Telecom, you will oversee the construction of low voltage systems and telecom equipment for the delivery of three 2GW topsides and jackets at the shipyard in Malaysia. For the first 3-6 months you'll be based in Arnhem, The Netherlands. After this you will move to Johor Bahru, Malaysia on a residential basis. This role ensures construction quality, contract compliance, and technical decision-making, providing key information to the Lead Site Manager.
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing construction works, all LV electrical, instrument, and telecom systems during mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
- Participating in all testing and commissioning activities for the assigned scope and system integration tests.
- Lead design reviews, inspections and handovers, coordinate technical documentation reviews. Approve contractor performance for design and construction contracts and coordinate specialists in Malaysia and the Netherlands.
- Monitoring the contractor’s progress for the assigned scope, deviations and change requests (RfC). Organize technical meetings and monitor schedule & delays.
- Ensuring quality and compliance of the design and execution of the works in accordance with TenneT’s requirements and HSE compliance.
- Managing the EPCI contractor towards successful completion of the assigned scope.
You will also be responsible for liaising with the Sub-Project Lead Electrical (based in The Netherlands) on progress, particular issues, and lessons learned for continuous improvement. This will include ensuring the execution of the works complies with the design, reviewing as-built documentation, and being involved during the equipment manufacturing phase and FATs. Your role will also include ensuring the progress and quality of the assigned scope and reporting regularly to the Lead Site Manager about progress and issues. You will support procurement, risk, and project management.
This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills to ensure successful project execution.

The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

- 43 vacation days per year.

- First 3-6 months will be based in Arnhem, The Netherlands before moving to Johor Bahru, Malaysia on a residential basis, for a period of 3 to 5 years.
