Your profile and background

  • Willingness to travel based on project needs.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

  • Strong leadership, ownership, and drive for achieving results.

  • Proactive, persuasive, and stakeholder-savvy, with sound judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Quick learner with the ability to manage diverse topics and lead a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong experience with tender processes and contractor management; experience with FIDIC contracts is a plus.

  • Solid technical understanding of cable manufacturing and offshore installation.

  • 3+ years of experience as a project manager in a comparable role (preferably offshore cables), or 5+ years leading large offshore/infrastructure projects.

Your contribution to TenneT

Within our Large Projects Offshore Netherlands (LON) unit, you will lead the offshore cable work for the Eemshaven Cluster, delivering the key Doordewind-1 and Doordewind-2 projects as part of our ambitious 2GW program.

As Project Lead Offshore Cables, you will be responsible for the offshore sections of two 525kV HVDC cable systems, connecting the offshore substations to the onshore grid. Your focus will be on managing the contractors responsible for design, manufacturing, and offshore installation, while ensuring seamless integration with other project workstreams — always with a sharp focus on safety, our top priority.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Define strategies for tendering, technical scope division, and contract setup, in close collaboration with internal departments.

  • Manage the main offshore cable contractor and support the Lead Cable in technical and commercial matters, including contract changes and scope alignment.

  • Collaborate with contractors to develop feasible design and installation concepts that meet TenneT’s requirements and comply with spatial and environmental permits.

  • Manage technical interfaces between offshore, nearshore sections, and platforms, and coordinate logistics and SIMOPs during execution.

  • Ensure timely preparations for project execution, including plans, basic designs, surveys, cable route development, and permits.

  • Safeguard compliance with Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) standards, as well as time, budget, quality, and risk targets.

  • Build and lead a dedicated subproject team, working closely with other Project Leads and stakeholders within our matrix organization.

  • Provide technical input for permitting and liaise with authorities as required.

  • Capture lessons learned and best practices across the 2GW program and ensure consistent application.

  • Deliver high-quality documentation, project plans, progress reports, and support Project Steering Group decisions.
