Your profile and background

• Engineering background (BSc. or Master degree);
• 3 years+ experience with the design and construction of offshore platforms in either the oil & gas or offshore wind industry;
• You have excellent communication, cooperation and influencing skills and are able to challenge and motivate both the contractor team as the internal team;
• You show initiative, you are persuasive, sensitive, aware of your stakeholders and capable of a balanced judgment/opinion;
• You are dynamic, enthusiastic, intrinsically motivated, you take your responsibility and ownership (committed);
• You have no 'nine to five' mentality;
• You are willing to travel on regular basis abroad to the office in Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) to visit the designing department of the contractor Petrofac;
• You will work on Mondays and Tuesdays together with your TenneT team members in our office in Arnhem, the other days flexible from home or from the office;
• You have strong problem solving skills;
• You are fluent in English, both verbally and in writing. 
Dutch communication skills are an advantage, not mandatory.

Your contribution to TenneT

Based on the Energie-akkoord, where the targets and intentions for the transition to a more renewable energy supply are set, the Roadmap Offshore wind energy 2030 and the ambition to realise additional windcapacity prior to 2030 a roll-out strategy is being prepared for the long term, including the 2GW  projects. This results in a commitment for TenneT to realise at least 14 2GW HVDC Grid Connection Systems which bring the power from offshore wind-farms in the North sea to the Dutch electricity grid to be commissioned between 2028 - 2031.


Within the portfolio team Stations Petrofac/Hitachi, consisting of at least 6 platform/HVDC projects,  we are looking for a Project Engineer. Your tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Manage the EPCI contractor towards a successful completion of the design in compliance with the contract;
  • Manage and coordinate engineering processes (e.g. technical queries, change management, coordinate document reviews, solve interdisciplinary issues, interfaces, requirement compliance coordination, etc.) both internally and towards between TenneT and the contractor;
  • Coordinate between the engineering and project management disciplines;
  • Review critical and overarching engineering deliverables yourself;
  • Align with internal stakeholders about design, requirements and any other issues;
  • Manage the certification process;
  • Manage design interfaces with other contractors (e.g. cable contractors, OWF);
  • Support a successful implementation of Safety by Design;
  • Support a successful implementation of systems engineering;
  • Ensure the 2GW standard design is adhered to and implemented correctly;
  • Align with experts and teams within Offshore NL/GER and various other departments within TenneT and take into account lessons learned from other large (2GW) projects.

This will be our challenge

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

Additional information

  • The weekly working time is 40 hours
  • 43 holidays per annual on a full time basis
  • Job grade 8 according TenneT TSO CAO
  • Type of contract is temporary for 12 months and a consecutive contract will be indefinite;
