Your profile and background

At TenneT, we are looking for professionals who help shape the future of our electricity grid. We expect you to bring the right experience and skills to make a valuable contribution to our team and mission.

  • Educational background – BSc in Electrical Engineering, preferably MSc in Electrical Power Engineering.

  • Technical expertise – Strong understanding of power systems and power electronics, ideally HVDC systems and Multi-Terminal DC applications.

  • Professional experience – 2–5 years of relevant experience, ideally with HVDC systems.

  • Analytical skills – Experience with network calculation tools (ideally PSCAD and real-time simulation environments) and ability to solve complex technical problems.

  • Personal skills – Structured approach to work, strong quality awareness, eagerness to learn, and adaptability within large organizations.

  • Language skills – Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

  • Mobility – Willingness to travel (UK, Sweden) and valid driver’s license (Class B).

Your contribution to TenneT

How will you help power the Netherlands? As a Technical Specialist MTDC Design, you are responsible for managing and reviewing the technical details of the Multi-Terminal DC (MTDC) system within the LionLink project, a first-of-its-kind cross-border development between the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

In addition, you are responsible for:

  • Technical review – Act as the main reviewer of contractor deliverables in HVDC system design and controls during the MTDC FEED and subsequent main MTDC contract.

  • Testing & validation – Witness factory acceptance tests of the contractor for functional and dynamic performance of the HVDC control & protection system and the Master Controller.

  • Requirement development – Collaborate with TenneT stakeholders (asset management, energy system planning, system operations) to develop detailed technical requirements for LionLink.

  • Grid compliance – Define and monitor the grid compliance trajectory for LionLink in alignment with all relevant parties.

Large Projects Offshore is a key contributor to the energy transition. The Unit is responsible for the current and future development of the offshore grid as a whole and subsequently for the development and realization of the DC interconnectors and the Offshore Wind Farm grid connections in both the German and Dutch sectors of the North Sea.

  • A undetemined contract or year contract with the possibility of extension based on 40 hours per week
  • A salary in scale 9: € 4675 to € 9196 per month with 8% holiday allowance and 6% year-end bonus. Job grading is based on education, experience, knowledge and internal equity
  • A solid pension via ABP: we pay 70% of your premium.
  • 43 vacation days per year.
