 ·  The growing complexity of processes due to the energy transition requires sophisticated concepts and developments to make most efficient use of the available balancing capacity in Europe. International cooperations needs new algorithms to find the optimal usage of the existing capacities. You contribute in the development of these algorithms and concepts.

 ·         In this context new shapes of bidding zones might be implemented with impact on system operation processes. You need to identify these impacts and develop process adaptions accordingly.

 ·         In this context, balancing  market methodologies are also changing and under continuous development/ improvement. You need to follow this developments to be on top of the relation with and/or impact for most efficient usage of the available balancing capacity

·          In order to do so, you participate in national and international working groups to bring these important topic forward and to propose relevant and innovative solutions

·          Offshore wind could become a major player in balancing markets, but there are still technical, operational and regulatory obstacles and challenges.  You will contribute to exploring the operational and regulatory requirements for efficient, economic and safe participation of offshore wind in energy and balancing markets.

• If suitable, you will accompany and contribute to research studies in the topics of focus

·         You successfully finished your academic studies in electrical/power system engineering or a  quantitative study with enough experience working in the power systems field

·         You will participate in international projects,  therefore a positive attitude towards working in an international team with different nationalities is of importance

·         You can both function as a team player, and also can take ownership/ focus on topics that you need to take care of individually;

·         You are able to switch between styles to follow dynamics of a larger (working)group, and also pro-actively try to redirect developments when needed in such a context.

·         Good verbal and writing skills in English are mandatory

·         Experience in working for a transmission system operator in the field of system operation is recommended, especially experience in energy market developments and specifically balancing markets are highly welcomed

·         Profound knowledge of processes in electricity markets (specifically balancing markets) and system operation is highly welcomed
