What do you bring?

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable field.

  • Willingness to work both at the Arnhem office and the Borssele land station during construction and commissioning activities.

Your contribution to TenneT

TenneT is growing fast to realize its strategic ambitions. We play a leading role in driving the energy transition. Through our 2GW program, TenneT is developing multiple High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) grid connection systems that bring power from offshore wind farms in the North Sea to the Dutch electricity grid — a vital step toward achieving national sustainability goals.

As Sub Project Lead Commissioning HVDC Secondary Systems, you manage site activities for the secondary systems during the construction phase of the 2GW land station in Borssele (Netherlands). You ensure that all technical, quality, and safety requirements are met and that commissioning activities are executed according to contract, standards, and best practices.

You will report hierarchically to the Lead Integration and Commissioning within the Engineering and Services department, and functionally to the Sub Project Lead HVDC Land Station and Commissioning Manager.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Commissioning of HVDC Secondary Systems, including 66kV Control and Protection, HVDC Control and Protection, HV HMI/SCADA, Wind Farm Interfaces, Auxiliary Transformers, Low Voltage Installations, and Converter Cooling Systems.

  • Participation in engineering and manufacturing phases – actively join design review meetings, witness Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and inspect quality documentation.

  • On-site monitoring – oversee installation and mechanical completion activities, ensuring compliance with installation drawings, method statements, and test plans (ITPs/ITRs).

  • Quality assurance – review and verify all site-related technical documentation and commissioning results, and ensure proper recordkeeping.

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (SHE) – monitor contractors’ adherence to SHE standards on site.

  • Reporting and decision support – prepare progress updates, deviation reports, and technical decision proposals together with the core HVDC team.

  • Handover management – coordinate system handover preparation, collect lessons learned, and support continuous improvement of TenneT’s technical and project handover standards.

This position requires frequent on-site presence at Borssele, combined with collaboration and coordination activities from the Arnhem office.
