Your profile and background

What do we expect from you?  

  • You have an academic degree in economics, engineering or mathematics, business administration, law or another relevant field 
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in the European energy sector for more than 3 years 
  • You have demonstrable knowledge of the (international) wholesale electricity market and market principles 
  • Analytical and conceptual way of thinking combined with the ability to structure and condense complex topics;  
  • You are able to get things done in a complex environment in collaboration with diverse internal and external stakeholders;  
  • You are result-oriented, flexible, self-starting and have excellent communication and advice skills; you are also a real team player; 
  • You have a positive critical attitude, are environmentally sensitive and dare to speak out;  
  • Able and willing to travel across Europe (5-10 business trips a year);
  • Proficient in English, both verbally and in writing;  
  • Preferably proficient in Dutch.

TenneT plays a leading role in driving the energy transition, and we are growing fast to realize our strategic ambitions. We are looking for a passionate policy advisor European Market Integration at our Arnhem location who will contribute to that, might that be you?

What will you do as policy advisor markets?  

You actively contribute to an efficient energy transition by improving the functioning of the coupled European electricity markets, in close collaboration with stakeholders. In an internationally working team you are working in particular on the following: 

  • As an expert in the field of the harmonization and integration of the European wholesale electricity markets, you understand the connection between the physical functioning of the electricity system, the commercial (inter)national trade in electricity, the policy context and the interests of the various stakeholders; 
  • You identify (inter)national market developments and initiate improvements in the electricity market and relevant Dutch and European policies and regulations in this area;
  • You will represent TenneT in (inter)national projects and initiatives, to improve the functioning of the coupled electricity markets and further integrate electricity markets. Projects may include developing, negotiating and implementing detailed European market guidelines and methodologies, and improving existing market coupling arrangements;
  • You will actively contribute to shaping TenneT’s vision on electricity market related topics;  
  • You will develop strategies to align key decisions with TenneT’s position and promote TenneT’s vision, by providing pro-active analysis, stakeholder management and representing TenneT in national and international partnerships;
  • You establish a strong network within the energy sector to influence policy development at the national and European levels; 
  • You will work in the European Market Integration team of highly educated and motivated people.
