What is your role as Portfolio Manager?
The BTO (Business Technology Organization) Asset Chain Portfolio Manager builds an integrated portfolio of IT/Digital initiatives throughout the projects/programs/Agile lifecycle and manages them. The total number of initiatives within BTO is divided between different Portfolio Managers. The key focus of the management of the portfolio includes (but is not restricted to) is advising the Portfolio Board on the progress of the portfolio, dependencies, portfolio risks and making analyses and forecasts regarding the feasibility of the portfolio.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
• Building and manage the portfolio funnel of IT/Digital initiatives with inputs from Decision committee, Business stakeholders, Domain Office Advisors, Architects and Delivery Leads.
• Analysing and making prognosis proposals, including value and risk analysis for investment and / or use of capacity for Initiatives in the portfolio.
• Take ownership and guide the portfolio process.
• Preparation of reports for managing the portfolio as input to decision making for the relevant budget and / or investment committee. This includes the prioritization setting process and the Quarterly planning process.
• Contribution to the writing of the QPE memo (quarterly prioritization event)
• Evaluate the IT/BTO initiatives, and coordinate the required feasibility checks (for instance connection to business goals, architecture, roadmap, value) with expert panel. You take up the role as content challenger; flag risks in a timely manner.
• Align with relevant stakeholders inside and outside the BTO for the selected investment for implementation to ensure an integral portfolio view and decision making
• Ensure the quality and hygiene of the portfolio through well-defined stage-gates process.
• Actively and consistently communicate portfolio status, decisions to the key stakeholder community both within BTO and in business.
• Offer continuous improvements to the portfolio management process based on lessons learnt and/or industry best practices.
Your profile and background
What do we expect from you?
• Bachelor / academic working level and a relevant degree (eg. Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration)
• You have at least 5 years of experience in a similar function
• You have excellent communication, advisory and organisational skills
• You have knowledge of 'strategic portfolio management' and 'program delivery management' and you have a broad vision about project and program management
• You have experience with managing a portfolio in an Agile environment
• You have a medium-term (2-5 years) term focus
• You have good communicative and social skills, you're an equal partner at all levels in the organization
• You are business sensitive and able to recognize different interests and thereby make good judgments in the interests of the TenneT organization; you can effectively maneuver in a playing field with in a complex stakeholder environment.
• You are analytical and you're able to do proper judging quickly
• You know what you stand for and able to convince others
• Fluency in English is a must; basic Dutch language skills (or an interest to learn) is necessary
• PMP and/or Prince2 certifications is a pre
