Your contribution to TenneT

The electrical power system is in the middle of a transition that is significantly increasing the complexity of system operations. This change is driven by political, regulatory, environmental and technological background. Therefore, System Operations needs to adept and develop its operation for the challenges today and tomorrow. In the System Operations we developing ingenious concepts an processes based on knowledge to ensure TenneT is prepared to operate the future power system with the same level of reliability and security, as we have today!

In the team of System Resilience you contribute directly to these challenges by identifying the needs and taking initiative for necessary developments as well as contributing to the challenges of today. You promote innovation and propose improvements for system operations in close collaboration with many internal and external as well as national and international stakeholders.

The power system is evolving; synchronous generation is increasingly replaced by inverter-based resources (IBRs). This shift leads to amplified and accelerated grid dynamics and an increased need for stability monitoring in system operations to ensure grid security at all times.

  • You will contribute to innovative solutions for monitoring and analysis of grid stability and dynamics, to be used in the control room of TenneT. In this way, you will directly contribute to improving grid security of the Dutch and European power systems.
  • You will contribute to the ongoing Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) developments within TenneT (cooperation with internal and external colleagues).
  • You will contribute to grid resilience developments, such as inertia and system strength monitoring and utilization of wide-area equipment (PMUs, WAMS…).
  • You will closely cooperate with several departments on various stability initiatives (e.g. System Operations, Energy System Planning, Grid Field Operation).
  • You will cooperate with the relevant process owners internal and external to system operations to get full picture about the challenges ahead for a stable future system operation.
  • The opportunity to engage in national and international working groups (Entso-e, CIGRE…).
