BritNed Development Limited (BritNed) is a joint venture between TenneT Holding BV (TenneT) and National Grid plc (National Grid), who acts as the owner and operator of the high voltage direct current interconnector (1000MW) linking the electricity markets of Great Britain and The Netherlands. The Interconnector was commissioned and went into commercial operation at the beginning of April 2011.
In the combined role as Operator and Asset Support Engineer you will work as part of an international joint venture supporting the Operations Team in the delivery of safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the BritNed Interconnector.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing day by day maintenance inspections and act as ‘work responsible’ according to BEI-BHS, BEI-BLS and BritNed specific rules (Safety and Operational), having responsibility for managing HV, LV, mechanical and civil works at the Maasvlakte site.
- Provide support in the delivery of asset management and maintenance policies monitoring the performance of the maintenance contractor against contractual performance indicators.
- Support the audit programme for BritNed’s internal audits.
- Assist the continued delivery of the spare parts management strategy.
- Support the planning activities associated with scheduled outages including planning resource levels and analysing asset performance data to prioritise works.
- Provide high quality asset condition information to provide input to future operational investment plans.
- Support the delivery of emergency response activities – site and control room requirements - this will include (on-call) standby duties.
- Lead investigations into any asset issues/incidents, proactively identifying root causes and improvements.
- Liaise with other Interconnector businesses and Construction/Development departments on best practice.
- Contribute towards emergency planning and preparation across the interconnector.
- Support the Operations Management Team in continually monitoring availability and reliability across the interconnector to produce trend analysis and fault statistics.
- Maintaining and reviewing the asset management risk register and make recommendations as to when, due to its significance or impact, an Operational level risk should be escalated to being included in the business level risk register.
Your profile and background
- Electrical HBO / MBO+ or equivalent level by work experience.
- A strong team player with the ability to build positive relationships.
- A good understanding of the energy infrastructure (NL and UK).
- Good Dutch and English language skills are required.
- Ability to analyse information and offer advice on conclusions to support effective asset management decision making.
- Organisation skills with an ability to develop manage and implement complex maintenance outages and associated work activities.
- A willingness to be highly flexible with a ‘hands on’ approach to getting things done without lose sight of safe operations.
- Ability to think around an issue to identify safe and efficient solutions to operational asset related issues.
- A commercial mind-set with an ability to understand the commercial implications of operational courses.
