We are looking for a passionate HVDC Secondary Engineer - Control & Protection at our location Arnhem who will contribute to this and that might be you?
Your contribution to TenneT
Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you will assist in supervising the Stations (HVDC) Contractor, learning the intricacies of HVDC and HVAC control and protection systems. Your focus on understanding TenneT requirements, contractual obligations will set the foundation for your growth toward e.g. Sub Project Lead. Simultaneously, you will gain exposure to overseeing engineering, testing and commissioning activities of the state-of-the-art HVDC Systems, contributing to full life cycle of 2GW projects. You will work on Mondays and Tuesdays together with your colleagues out of your team from the TenneT office in Arnhem and on the other days flexible from home or from the office.
To start off with in this role:
- Get acquainted with 2GW program and technical requirements;
- Exposure to HVDC control and protection through reviewing technical documents, coordinate technical interfacing, participating in internal and discussions, as well as technical visits to the HVDC suppliers locations for witnessing Factory Acceptance Test;
- Day-to-day interactions with (sub) project leads, providing technical support and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the execution of 2GW HVDC projects;
- Review the technical deliverables of the Contractors, such as secondary detailed designs, IO lists, interlocking schemes, protection coordination study and test plans;
- Witness the control and protection related Factory Acceptance Tests of the Contractor for functional performance, this for both HVAC and HVDC control and protection systems;
- Support the TenneT site team with testing- commissioning related activities;
- You will work together with the Offshore Wind Farm to align all secondary interfaces;
- You will work together with other engineers of subprojects on interface alignment;
- Timely identification of risks and incompliance to requirements and relevant (inter) nation standards and guidelines;
- Assist in motivating the consortium/contractor to deliver quality within agreed timelines;
- Support coordination with internal and external stakeholders;
- Observe and support the culture of active contribution to a safe working environment.
Your profile and background
- BSc in electrical power engineering;
- Relevant professional experience with the engineering of HVAC, and ideally, HVDC control and protection systems;
- You are used to, or feel it as a next step for your career, to move a little away from the drawing board and put more focus of reviewing engineering, testing and commissioning works of Contractors;
- Knowledge and practical experience with the application of data communication systems and protocols for substation automation;
- Knowledge and practical experience with witnessing Factory Acceptance Tests;
- Eagerness to learn and adaptable to navigate within large organizations;
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

- The weekly working time is 40 hours;
- 43 holidays per annual on a full time basis;
- Job grade 8 depending on level of experience (Euro 3879 - Euro 7660 gross a month on a full time basis) according TenneT TSO CAO;
