What is the role
As Regulatory Affairs Advisor you will be reporting to the Regulatory Affairs Manager, and you will work in close collaboration with the commercial teams. You will translate EU and UK regulatory needs to internal requirements and have frequently contacts with Regulators and Ministries on behalf of BritNed. The main focus will be on compliance, regulations, risk management and market surveillance.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
- where possible the design and implementation of these possibilities.
- Arrangement between the EU and UK (post Brexit), including capacity allocation and capacity calculation workstreams.
- Translate the regulatory needs to internal requirement for the commercial business of BritNed and support project management with implementations.
- Support the annual review of the Access Rules, align with the commercial teams on required changes and facilitate the regulatory approval process.
- In this role you will be the REMIT Champion, provide guidance on Remit and Transparency issues.
- Review compliance activities, keep internal policies up to date and pro-active inform all BritNed team members.
- Develop the framework of market monitoring and surveillance of trading activities.
- Advisory and support in risk management, identify and assess types of risks that could affect BritNed and develop contingency plans.
- You contribute actively to a safe working environment for yourself, your colleagues, and contractors.
- The successful applicant will also be part of the on-call team that responds if the interconnector fails to limit commercial imbalance exposures.
Since BritNed is both a merchant interconnector and a TSO, this role is a great opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of all relevant areas and aspects of this business within a dynamic and international context.
Your profile and background
What we need from you
We’re looking for a self-motivated and responsible individual who can perform well under pressure. We require someone with experience in regulatory affairs from the energy sector. You’ll also need to be excellent in communication, both verbally and in writing, to effectively represent BritNed towards external stakeholders.
Relevant master’s degree.- Experience with Regulators (ACER, Ofgem, ACM, etc.) with a sense for international stakeholder interests.
- A good understanding of the Dutch and British electricity markets, market concepts and regulatory arrangements.
- The ability to collaboratively work together with BritNed departments, such as customer team and commercial team and regulatory and market departments of TenneT and National Grid.
- Since BritNed is a dynamic commercial environment a high level of flexibility, entrepreneurial skills and hands on mentality is expected.
- Good oral and written communications skills in English and Dutch.
